2 Piece Floating Rotors:

The rotor disc is attached to the centre hat via bobbins which allows for a small amount of lateral movement due to thermal expansion.
The main benefit of the floating design is to minimise any possible disc deformation from extreme temperatures often experienced in racing conditions. There is also an additional cooling advantage as both components are separated reducing heat transfer from disc to centre hat.
The D2 floating design does not exhibit any noise.

2 Piece Fixed Rotors:

The rotor disc is attached to the centre hat directly.

D2 strives to retain all OEM functionality especially the handbrake. Due to the unique configuration of some vehicles however, handbrake functionality may not be supported.

OE – Retains factory handbrake functionality commonly through a inner drum on the rear disc.
PHD – Features D2’s Patented Handbrake Design to work with the OEM handbrake (refer to Tech Page range for a reference image)
EPB – Additional caliper functionality to work with the OEM electronic handbrake (refer to Tech Page range for a reference image)
N/A – No handbrake provision

Yes – D2 brake kits do not interfere with any vehicle electronic assists.
Most applications will provide handbrake functionality via the rear caliper through:
– Retaining use of the OEM handbrake
– The Patented Handbrake Design
– The Electronic Hand Brake for cars equipped with this from OEM
The type of handbrake functionality will be listed for your application on the product page.
In some cases there may be applications where no handbrake functionality is available.

It is not a strict requirement to upgrade your BMC to a larger model as D2 brake kits work well with the factory equipped brake master cylinders.

It is always recommended to upgrade the rear brake system to compliment the upgraded front brake system.
The recommended ratio is 7:3.
Other brake system components can be changed to maintain desired balance if the rear brake system is not upgraded, this is important for vehicles not equipped with ABS.

There is no performance benefit of the cross drilled design over the slotted design whereby the latter is also proven to be more reliable under intense braking conditions.
All D2 brake kits feature slotted rotors as standard.

Following the brake pad manufacturer bed in process is recommended.
In the case where Intima Type-D v2.0 supplied brake pads are used, the bed in procedure is included inside.

D2 Brake kits use popular AP Racing and Brembo brake pad profiles which are available from other brake pad manufacturers.
