Upgrading from the 4 pot Brembo caliper

The 2 piece 4 pot Brembo caliper is found as an OEM brake component on many performance vehicles such as the Mitsubishi Evo 5 – 10, Subaru Impreza STi, Holden Commodore Redline series, Renault Megane RS250+ and more recently the Honda Civic FK8 Type R and Subaru BRZ Performance Pack.
Due to availability and the obvious size advantage, it is also a very popular upgrade for other vehicles such as the Nissan Silvia S15 using aftermarket caliper brackets.
The largest rotor used by this caliper is 350mm in diameter which will be used for comparison purposes.

The following is the comparable D2 1 piece 6 pot big brake kit with a 356x32mm:

Utilising a common AP Racing pad profile, the pad is much wider allowing for more rotor contact which results in more stopping power, durability and longevity.
Evo vs D2 Pad profile

Lower unsprung mass despite a larger caliper, superior forged monoblock caliper construction and increased braking performance from a larger pad surface area; the choice is clear.
